An assessment framework for measurable, scientifically grounded, and verifiable greenhouse gas mitigation resulting from new, advanced, and disruptive technologies.
The Quality Creative Utilization Standard™ defines a methodology and assessment framework for evaluating greenhouse gas emission reductions, avoidances, or removals resulting from the application of new, improved, replacement, or disruptive technologies in the Voluntary Carbon Market.
QCUS™ can also assess technological solutions that emerge as new, advanced, or market-shaping technologies and produce measurable CO₂ impacts at the system level.
The assessment is based on real, measurable, and verifiable physical GHG mitigation. Calculations shall be based on scientific principles, documented data, conservative assumptions, and appropriate emission factors.
QCUS™ treats documented project assessment, transparent GHG quantification, and independent validation and verification as essential elements of credible credit generation.
QCUS™ applies to any economic sector where scientifically justified, measurable, and verifiable greenhouse gas mitigation can be demonstrated. The Standard covers project eligibility, project boundaries, baseline identification, quantification of GHG reductions, avoidances, or removals, data quality, MRV, independent assessment, prevention of double counting, and carbon credit generation.
The state of the technology and process, material and data inputs, outputs, energy flows, the pre-project baseline, calculation methods, emission factors, and the project’s actual greenhouse gas impact.
The Standard places particular emphasis on long-term climate benefits, a conservative approach, and avoiding uncertain or insufficiently substantiated technology claims.
The mission of QCUS™ is to provide a future-proof, practical, and hands-on methodology for all stakeholders participating in the Voluntary Carbon Market.
Appropriate access to relevant project data and documentation supports independent review, cross-checking, and market confidence.
The project owner is responsible for the validity, integrity, and accuracy of submitted data, documents, and information. Documentation shall be traceable and suitable for independent verification.
The Standard shall be periodically reviewed based on scientific advances, technological innovation, practical experience, evolving regulatory frameworks, and developments in the Voluntary Carbon Market.
QCUS™ applies comprehensive system and technology mapping, baseline assessment, analysis of material and energy flows, and prioritization of long-term climate benefits.
Assessment of technologies, processes, inputs, outputs, and calculations requires the use of the most recent scientifically justified data, variables, and emission factors, together with professional cross-checking.
The same GHG reduction, avoidance, or removal shall not be registered, issued, transferred, or claimed more than once. Project ownership and the prevention of double use shall be supported by appropriate declarations.
The integrated QCUS™ assessment process runs from project and technology definition through material and energy flow analysis, GHG quantification and verification, to determination of the result eligible for crediting.
Precise definition of the Creative Utilization project, project boundaries, technology, and operational process.
Definition of the reference scenario without the project and the associated greenhouse gas emissions based on scientifically justified data.
Conservative calculation of the project’s GHG impact using material, energy, and operational data from the implemented technology.
Comparison of baseline and project results, followed by determination of the actual GHG reduction, avoidance, or removal.
The quantity of Quality Creative Utilization Credit™ can be determined based on the successfully implemented and independently verified climate result.
The QCUS™ Standard also defines the methodological framework for generating Quality Creative Utilization Credit™, or QCUC™.
Under QCUS™, one QCUC™ is a tradable unit within the Voluntary Carbon Market corresponding to one metric tonne (1 tCO₂e) of verified greenhouse gas emission reduction, avoidance, or removal.
Credits may be generated exclusively from activities resulting in real, measurable, and verifiable GHG mitigation. Credits are issued ex-post, following successful project implementation and verification of the achieved GHG mitigation.
QCUC™ transactions shall be recorded in transparent registry systems to ensure traceability, accountability, and prevention of double counting throughout the entire credit lifecycle.
QCUS™ applies a conservative approach in calculations to ensure that GHG reductions, avoidances, or removals are not overestimated. For input data, priority is given to official data from internationally recognized scientific, environmental, meteorological, and governmental organizations, as well as values derived from these sources using scientifically accepted methods.
The Standard applies a minimum 100-year perspective when assessing long-term climate benefits and, where scientifically relevant and technically justified, also considers a longer-term outlook of up to 10,000 years.
This website presents the purpose, scope, principles, and general assessment logic of the Quality Creative Utilization Standard™. The full Standard contains detailed requirements, definitions, calculation and documentation principles, as well as the conditions for project assessment and credit issuance.
The September 2026 V2.0 includes a comprehensive structural revision, enhanced document governance, harmonization with international standardization practices, expanded definitions, enhanced auditability, and editorial improvements.
